The Last Leaf

Framed print (18×23”) brown wood frame, white mat

Early one November morning (2015), the previous day’s raindrops had frozen on my red maple tree. The sun was peeking through the clouds – just enough to add a bit of glow through the last leaf on the tree with a hint of blue sky behind.

I can’t really say why I find this image so satisfying – sometimes its just the simple, ordinary sights that give us a moment of pleasure. Its what I love about being a photographer – I’ve learned to treasure the small gifts of the moment – often never to be seen again in quite the same way.

ABOUT VICKIE

I am a visual artist and educator living in Rosedale with 3 dogs & one cat.  To express my creativity, I use photography. Consequently, I belong to several local artists’ and photography groups. These include the Chilliwack Visual Artists Association, since 2009 and the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club since 1996.

I teach entry level photography at the Chilliwack Cultural Center. In the summer, I co-ordinate the photography team for the Harrison Festival of the Arts.

My work has been displayed many places in the Fraser Valley. The O’Connor Art Gallery, Chilliwack Museum, the Royal Hotel, the Chilliwack Regional District office and the Chilliwack Art Room. In Abbotsford, the Kariton House Gallery and the Art & Wine Walk. As well as the Mission Art Gallery and Harrison Festival of the Arts

I have been published internationally in calendars, (Prospera Credit Union & Multi-faith). And magazines (Bluegrass North).

My fine art images are inspired by the world before me. Allowing me to see the marvelous in the mundane, the magic in a moment. Then share my vision with the viewer.

Above all, a passion for portraiture emerged when I recognized a desire to reveal their own personal ‘beauty’. Certainly, to embrace and celebrate the amazing person they are, at any age!  The portraits I create are not just about a pretty face and nice lighting. Your shoot should reflect your story, to show you as you are, or how you wish to be!

Although all of images are color compatible for viewing online, most computer monitors vary in their color configurations. The images that you see may not have accurate color representation.
