McCaw Affection

Description

Red McCaw’s are the largest in the Parrot family and the most common. They are native to South America and Mexico. They mate for life and as this painting portrays preen each other. They can live as long as humans, (75 years). However, their typical life span is 40-50 years. They are usually seen in the wild in pairs or with a flock. They are mainly vegetarian eating nuts, seeds and fruit. Occasionally they will eat insects. They are the national bird of Honduras. Thank you Susan Westerwelt for your photo.
