Part of a larger commission project for a client who wanted a set of elemental dragons with faeries. I wanted him to be really big, that was pretty important, and to look aged and majestic. Instead of traditional horns, I opted for antlers and while I wanted his skin to be bark-like in nature. I also wanted to give the impression of a skull, which is why the wood on his head is lighter in color.
I’ve always loved artwork. Spending long hours on the internet just admiring other people’s art. And my margins in class would always be full of doodles.
I got heavily into Japanese animation. It was then I determined that the end all be all of artwork was to draw for a comic.
I wrote and illustrated my own web comic for two years after high school. Around the end of the comic I had started getting really into the gaming scene, Magic: the Gathering, in particular. The artwork was very enchanting and breathtaking.
Eventually, I shifted my goals from “comic artist” to “card artist”. Then began a number of projects related to card game illustration. Also, I shifted to a more realistic style.
