Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park lies at the far end of Chilliwack Lake Road which follows Chilliwack River to its source. As you can tell from the place names, the local community holds claim to this area as its very own backyard adventure playground. Fisherfolk, whitewater kayakers, hikers, bikers, and four-wheel enthusiasts all carve out lasting memories along this valley. Any local will also be able to tell you how rare it is to find the waters of Chilliwack Lake as glassy as the day this photo was taken.
The Fraser Valley has been my home for more than thirty years. The beauty of this region captured me right from my youth, and exploring the outdoors was the common thread in all my interests. The lakes, rivers, and mountains that define the geography of this area continue to draw me into the backcountry and inspire my photographic pursuits. Even the urban centers of the southern coast of British Columbia are kissed by their intersection with their natural surroundings.
Ironically, photography became an integral part of my life when I left this province to work overseas. The zeal to capture the experience of living in a vibrant foreign city led me to delve into the relatively new realm of digital photography. The ability to capture what I was seeing in a way that expressed how it was making me feel became my artistic passion.
Over the last ten years I have worked to hone my craft both with the camera and the computer. In the field, this is all about finding locations that move me; locations that tell a story. In the post processing, it is all about highlighting the mood and lighting to evoke a response from the viewer. It is my hope that through my work people will be able to share in the sense of wonder I feel in the world around us.
Although all of images are color compatible for viewing online, most computer monitors vary in their color configurations. The images that you see may not have accurate color representation.
