This photograph was taken at a mill not far from my home. The chains were most likely from one of the machines in the mill and needed repairing. Firstly, the chains lying in a pattern and repetitiveness called out for a photograph. The lighting was moody and the chains were in imperfect lines. I got down low to get an interesting angle on the chains to add drama to them. Finally, the oil on the chains adds more drama.
