“British Columbian Orca”, 12 in x 12 in on stretched canvas, acrylic, oil, varnished, frame not included, wraparound finish.
When my oldest daughter was young, she said to me: “One day mommy, I’ll move far away and speak English”. I looked at my little girl and gently replied: “of course honey”. Little did I know that 11 years later, she would be moving to beautiful British Columbia, and settle down for good. It hit me. What will happen when she has children? I will never see them! It broke my heart. Just like this breathtaking mammal, our mother-daughter bond remains very strong. And just like the killer whale, we travel together to this day, forage for the best margarita in town, rest which usually means gather in her studio for a nice relaxing painting session and socialize for hours. To this incredible province and its fascinating orcas! I am honoured to call you my second home.
